Rules for what goes on an invitation
Effective: [Effective date]
These rules apply to everyone who uses Invitly: the people who create invitations and the guests who answer, post photos, videos, voice notes and stickers, or pitch in. They are part of our Terms of Service.
The short version
An invitation is a family space. Children, grandparents and friends all open the same link. Post only what you would happily show at the party itself.
Never post
- Nudity or sexual content of any kind, including drawings and images made with AI.
- Anything sexual involving a minor. We remove it and report it to the authorities.
- Harassment, threats, bullying or hate against anyone.
- Anything illegal, or anything that promotes violence or illegal acts.
- Someone else's photos, music, videos or other work without their permission.
- Pretending to be someone else, including the hosts.
- Scams, or requests for money that are not what they seem.
- Another person's private details, such as an address, a phone number, an account number or a document, without their consent.
Only post photos, video or voice of people who are fine with it. Take extra care with children: ask their parents first. To post, you must be 13 or older.
Pitch-in is for gifts
Pitch-in lets guests send a contribution straight to the host instead of bringing a gift. It is only for personal gifts for the event, between people who know each other. Invitly never receives, holds or sends this money.
Pitch-in may not be used to collect money for:
- a charity or a fundraiser for others;
- a business, or anything sold;
- a political cause or campaign;
- a raffle, a lottery or any game of chance;
- an investment or a loan.
What happens when a rule is broken
Depending on what we find, any of these can happen:
- A post waits for the host before anyone else sees it.
- A post is hidden, or removed.
- A post is kept out of sight while a person at Invitly reviews it.
- A whole invitation is taken down.
- An account is closed.
- A file we removed is blocked, so the same file cannot be posted again.
- Serious cases, such as any sexual content involving a minor, are reported to the authorities.
Photos, the still image of each video, and the names and messages guests write are checked automatically before they show. That check catches what is clearly unacceptable; it is not perfect, and we do not promise to see everything that is posted.
How to report
Next to every photo, video, voice note, name, sticker and pitch-in card on an invitation there is a report control. It points us at that exact item, and it is the fastest way.
If you want to report a whole page, or you cannot open the invitation, use our report page. You do not need an account, and you get a ticket number.
- An intimate image shared without consent: we act within 48 hours.
- A child at risk: we act within 24 hours.
- Harassment, a copyright problem or a scam: we act within 72 hours.
- Anything else: we act within 168 hours.
If someone is in danger right now, call emergency services first.
If you are the host
You decide who gets the link, and anyone who has it can see the invitation and post on it. Think twice before sharing it in large groups or on public social media.
From your invitation you can hide or delete any post, sticker or name, and block a guest from posting again. Videos and voice notes wait for you before they show, unless you switch on showing them at once; if you do, you take responsibility for what appears.
Ask before posting a photo of someone else's child, and remove a photo when a parent asks you to.
